Barbecue
Baked Beans
1/2 onion, chopped
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup barbecue sauce
1 15-oz can kidney beans
1 15-oz can butterbeans
1 15-oz can pork and beans
2 tablespoons molasses
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
1/2 teaspoon each salt and pepper
1/2 teaspoon Spice
Barn Chili Powder
Combine all ingredients;
bake 350 degrees for 1 hour, stirring once.
Berry Pecan Salad
1 pound mesclun greens
1 package fresh raspberries
1 package fresh blueberries
1 bottle raspberry vinaigrette salad dressing
1 recipe spicy pecans
Place greens on serving
plates. Arrange berries and pecans over greens. Serve with
raspberry vinaigrette.
Spicy Pecans: Stir
together 1/4 cup sugar and 1 cup warm water until sugar dissolves. Add
1 cup pecans; soak 10 minutes. Drain, discard water. Combine 2
tablespoons sugar, 1 tablespoon Spice
Barn Chili Powder, 1/8 teaspoons Spice Barn Ground Red Pepper; toss with
pecans. Place on lightly greased baking sheet Bake at 350
degrees for 10 minutes. Stir once. Cool.
Spiced Sweet
Potatoes
3 sweet potatoes, cubed
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon Spice
Barn Chili Powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon Spice Barn Cayenne Pepper
Toss potatoes and oil; add
remaining ingredients and toss to coat. Pour into greased baking dish.
Bake, uncovered, at 400 degrees 40-45 minutes or until tender, stirring
every 15 minutes. 8 servings
Chili Popcorn
1 tablespoon butter, melted
1/2 teaspoon Spice
Barn Chili Powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon Spice Barn
Garlic Powder
1/8 teaspoon Spice Barn Paprika
6 cups popped corn
Combine first 5 ingredients and drizzle over
warm popcorn.
Sloppy Joes
1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup green bell pepper, chopped
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon Spice
Barn Black Pepper
1 cup lemon-lime carbonated beverage
2/3 cup ketchup
3 tablespoons flour
2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon Spice
Barn Chili Powder
hamburger buns
Brown ground beef, onion, bell pepper, salt
and pepper until meat is cooked through. Drain. Stir in remaining
ingredients and simmer for 15 minutes. Server on warmed buns.
Chili Parmesan Chicken
Rolls
1/2 cup dry breadcrumbs
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon Spice
Barn Chili Powder
1/4 teaspoon Spice Barn
Ground Cumin
1/4 teaspoon Spice
Barn Black Pepper
8 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
8 ounces Pepper Jack Cheese, cut crosswise into 8 equal slices
1/3 cup melted butter
Combine first 5 ingredients. Flatten chicken
breasts to 1/4 inch thickness using a meat mallet or rolling pin. Place a
slice of cheese on each piece of chicken. Roll up from short side; secure
with toothpicks. Dip chicken rolls in butter and dredge in breadcrumb
mixture. Place seam side down in a baking dish. Freeze until firm. Bake at
400 degrees for 30 minutes. Garnish with parsley.
Chili-Cheese Stuffed
Celery
6 ounces cheddar cheese, shredded
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 1/2 tablespoons chopped onion
2 1/2 tablespoons chunky salsa
1/2 teaspoon Spice
Barn Chili Powder
8 celery stalks, cut into 3" pieces
In a food processor, process cheese,
mayonnaise and onion. Spoon into a bowl and add salsa and chili powder.
Using a pastry bag, pipe into celery cavities. (or spoon in) Garnish with
sliced black olives.
Meat Loaf with Chili
Tomato Sauce
1 pound ground beef
1 pound ground pork
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
1 large egg, beaten
1/2 cup uncooked oatmeal
1 tablespoon Spice
Barn Chili Powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon Spice
Barn Black Pepper
Combine all ingredients and place in loaf
pan. Pour on sauce and bake at 350 for 1 hour.
Chili Tomato Sauce: Combine 1/2 cup
onion and 1/2 cup green pepper with 2 tablespoons oil in a pan and sauté.
Add 1 tablespoon flour and stir until smooth. Add 16 ounces of crushed
tomatoes, 1 teaspoon chili powder, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon pepper
and a pinch of sugar. Bring to a boil and remove from heat.
Fabulous Mild Barbecue Sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon Spice
Barn Chili Powder
8 ounces tomato sauce
1/2 cup vinegar
1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 cup dark corn syrup
1/4 cup orange liqueur
Combine all ingredients except liqueur. Add
1/2 cup water and simmer 30 minutes. Stir in liqueur and simmer for 5
additional minutes.
Basic
Chili
1 pound ground beef
1 onion, chopped
1 large tomato sauce
1 tablespoon Spice
Barn Chili Powder
1/8 teaspoon Spice
Barn Ground Red Pepper
1/8 teaspoon Spice Barn Paprika
1 can kidney beans
Brown meat and drain. Combine remaining
ingredients and simmer for 15 minutes.
Mexican Corn
1 can whole kernel corn
1 tablespoon green pepper, diced
1 tablespoon pimento, diced
1/2 teaspoon Spice
Barn Chili Powder
Combine all ingredients and simmer 15 minutes
in small saucepan.
Steak Chili with Black Beans
2 pounds steak of choice
2 teaspoons Spice
Barn Chili Powder
1 teaspoon Spice Barn Garlic Powder
1 teaspoon Spice Barn Ground Cumin
1 large onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
2 cans black beans, rinsed and drained
2 cans chili style tomatoes, undrained
1 teaspoon sugar
6 ounce can tomato paste
salt and pepper to taste
sour cream
cheddar cheese, shredded
Cut beef into 1 inch cubes. Place in
slow cooker, turn on cooker to low setting. Sprinkle chili powder,
garlic powder, and cumin over. Add onion and green pepper. Add beans,
tomatoes, and sugar. Cook on low for 10 hours. Uncover and stir
in tomato paste. Season with salt and pepper. Serve, garnishing
with cheese and sour cream.
Oven Fried Sweet Potatoes
2 teaspoons oil
2 large sweet potatoes
1/4 teaspoon Spice
Barn Chili Powder
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon oil Line baking sheet with
aluminum foil greased with 2 teaspoons oil. Heat pan in oven at 450
degrees for 5 minutes. Peel potatoes and cut into 1/2 inch strips.
Mix chili powder, sugar, and oil; toss with potatoes. Place on baking
sheet and bake for 30 minutes, turning as needed.
