Orange Extract Recipes

Orange Muffins
1 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon Spice Barn Ground Cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon Spice Barn Ground Allspice
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup oil
1 teaspoon Spice Barn Orange Peel Granules
1/4 cup orange juice
1 teaspoon Spice Barn Orange Extract

Combine flour, baking powder, sugar, cinnamon, and allspice in a large bowl; make a well in the center.   Rehydrate Orange Peel Granules in small amount of water for about 15 minutes. Combine liquid ingredients and orange peel granules; stir into dry ones just until moistened.  Fill lightly greased muffin pan (or use cup cake liners) and fill each cup 2/3 full.  Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.

Chocolate Orange Brownies
1 20-ounce package brownie mix
1/2 cup vanilla chips
3 ounces softened cream cheese
2 tablespoons softened butter
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon Spice Barn Orange Extract
Frosting:
2 tablespoons butter
1 ounce unsweetened chocolate
1 ounce semisweet chocolate
1 cup confectioners sugar
2-3 tablespoons milk

Prepare brownies according to package "cake-like" directions; fold in vanilla chips.  Spread half batter into greased 13x9 pan.  Beat cream cheese, butter, and sugar until smooth in small bowl.  Beat in egg, flour, and orange extract.  Spread cream cheese mixture over batter in pan.  Drop remaining brownie batter tablespoons over cream cheese layer.  Cut through batter with a knife to swirl.  Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes.  Cool on wire rack.  Frosting:  Melt butter and chocolate in double boiler over medium heat.  Cool slightly; stir in sugar an enough milk to make a spreading consistency.
